Tax Forms (1099)

How PromoteKit files 1099-NEC forms for US affiliates paid through Stripe Connect Payouts

Tax Forms (1099)

When you pay affiliates with Stripe Connect Payouts, PromoteKit handles 1099 reporting for your US affiliates. You don't need to collect tax details, store them, or prepare 1099 forms yourself for those payouts.

Tax form automation covers payouts sent through Stripe Connect Payouts only. It's included on paid plans alongside Stripe Connect Payouts.

How It Works

Affiliates provide tax details to Stripe

When an affiliate connects for payouts from your affiliate portal, they complete Stripe Express onboarding. US affiliates provide their full SSN or EIN and address as part of that process. The details are collected and stored by Stripe, never by you.

You pay affiliates as usual

Every payout you send through Stripe Connect Payouts is recorded against the affiliate's Stripe account, so the amounts reported on their forms match what they were actually paid.

PromoteKit files 1099-NEC forms

After the end of each tax year, PromoteKit files 1099-NEC forms with the IRS for US affiliates paid through Stripe Connect Payouts who meet the IRS reporting threshold.

Affiliates get their copies from Stripe

Affiliates access their 1099 forms from their Stripe Express dashboard (Manage Payouts on Stripe on the Settings page of your affiliate portal).

For Affiliates

If you're an affiliate based in the US:

  • You'll be asked for your SSN or EIN and address when you connect a payout method through Stripe.
  • Your 1099-NEC is filed by PromoteKit, not by the company whose program you joined.
  • You can find your tax forms in your Stripe Express dashboard after the tax year ends.

PromoteKit can't give tax advice. If you have questions about your own tax situation, consult a tax professional.
