Getting started

What is PromoteKit?

PromoteKit is affiliate marketing software built for businesses that sell with Stripe. It lets you launch an affiliate program, give affiliates unique links and promo codes, automatically track referrals and commissions from your Stripe payments, and pay affiliates what they've earned.

Do I need Stripe to use PromoteKit?

Yes. PromoteKit tracks referrals and calculates commissions directly from your Stripe payments, so a Stripe account is required. If you sell through a platform that runs on Stripe, such as Webflow, Memberstack, Outseta, or MemberSpace, PromoteKit works with that too.

How long does it take to set up?

Do I need a developer to set it up?

Not necessarily. Promo code tracking works entirely through Stripe with no code on your website. Affiliate link tracking requires adding a script tag to your site.

Is PromoteKit only for SaaS companies?

No, PromoteKit works for any business using Stripe.

Does PromoteKit work for one-time purchases?

Yes, PromoteKit supports affiliate tracking for both one-time and subscription purchases.

Tracking referrals

How does affiliate link tracking work?

Each affiliate gets a unique link, such as yoursite.com?via=abc123. When a visitor clicks it, the PromoteKit script stores the referral in a cookie, and when they purchase, the sale is attributed to that affiliate through Stripe. Read more in the affiliate links docs.

How do affiliate promo codes work?

You create a coupon in Stripe and PromoteKit generates a unique promo code for each affiliate. When a customer uses an affiliate's code at checkout, the commission is credited to that affiliate. No website script is required. Read more in the promo codes docs.

How long does the referral cookie last?

60 days by default. You can change this per campaign.

Which platforms does PromoteKit integrate with?

PromoteKit has a dedicated Webflow app, plus integrations for Memberstack, Outseta, and MemberSpace.

Commissions

What types of commissions can I offer?

A percentage of the sale or a fixed amount, paid on every payment or limited to a number of payments or a period of time. You can also set different commissions per Stripe product and create commission tiers for your top affiliates.

Do affiliates earn commissions on subscription renewals?

Yes. Affiliates earn on every payment a referred customer makes, for as long as your campaign's commission limit allows.

What happens to a commission if a customer is refunded?

PromoteKit detects refunds in Stripe and automatically adjusts the affiliate's commission, so you never pay out on revenue you didn't keep.

Does PromoteKit support multiple currencies?

Yes. All commissions are converted into the currency of your choice.

Payouts

How do I pay my affiliates?

PromoteKit generates a report of everything your affiliates are owed. Pay them in bulk with PayPal or Wise, or use any other method and mark the payout as complete. See the payouts docs.

Does PromoteKit take a cut of commissions or charge transaction fees?

No. You pay a flat monthly subscription and there are no transaction fees on any plan.

Affiliate portal

Do affiliates get their own dashboard?

Yes. Every affiliate gets a portal where they can grab their links and promo codes, see their referrals and earnings, and manage their payout details.

Can I host the affiliate portal on my own domain?

Yes. You can use a custom domain such as affiliates.yourdomain.com.
